Both in the banknotes and in the commemorative coins of Spain dedicated to Quevedo, he appears represented with the same image. It is the only painting that remains of him, the well-known portrait that Diego Velázquez made of him. Unfortunately, the original portrait was lost in the 18th century and today we only have three copies of it made by the followers of the Sevillian genius.

EL GOBERNADOR / EL INTERVENTOR / EL CAJERO (Signatures of Conde de Torreánaz, José Gurumeta Jiménez and Antonio Góngora Benito)
Francisco Gómez de Quevedo y Santibáñez Villegas, Knight of the Order of Santiago (14 September 1580 – 8 September 1645) was a Spanish nobleman, politician and writer of the Baroque era. Along with his lifelong rival, Luis de Góngora, Quevedo was one of the most prominent Spanish poets of the age. His style is characterized by what was called “conceptismo”. This style existed in stark contrast to Góngora's “culteranismo”.
