1889 Ho G 5 Centavos Mexico KM-398

I have a coin with an Ho G mintage, but "Ho G" isn't an option for the mints on the page https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6127.html . I would like to have the Ho G mint mark added.

Welcome to the forum. :)
You may be right; according to this page ...
https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/mexico-5-centavos-km-3986-1874-1894-cuid-6484-duid-22858
there are eight years that may need amending >
1886 1887 1888 1889 1890 1891 1893 1894 all have Ho A on Numista,
whereas NGC say those years should have Ho G instead.
Will see what other members think on here.

For example, the first of those years ...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401156376484
does have 1886 Ho G shown on that page.
A little late, but I have made the correction to the listing, changing Ho A to Ho G for 1886, 1887, 1888, 1889, 1890, 1891, 1893, and 1894.
Numista referee for coins from Netherlands and United Arab Emirates, and for exonumia from United States.

This is a picture from the Krause 2017 edition, but even in the 1984 edition the mentioned years have the Ho G mint mark instead of the Ho A. I wonder how those Ho A mint marks for these years came into our catalogue.
As usual, no images to prove it!!!!!
It ought to be a must for any change to back it up with an image. If no image, no approval, OK?

Hello Ole,

I am not sure I understand...do you mean I should not have made the change to the listing without posting a picture of the Krause page to this thread? As one of the referees for Mexico, I verified the the correct assayer initial for those dates was G rather than A and made the change. That should not require posting a picture.

I assume whoever initially submitted this coin in 2009 made a mistake and continued the A assayer initial for all coins from this mint...an honest mistake that wasn't noticed until leventhal tried to add the coin. Be assured, the listing is now correct for these dates.

Sorry David,

I only want images for NEW years, NEW variants, NEW mint marks etc, whenever those change requests are not already "documented" in a trustworthy catalogues.

Nevertheless I always like to see the variants documented, like "open" and "closed" numbers, "narrow" and "wide" dates, etc, whenever it's possible, because with only one coin in front of you, it's quite difficult to know, which variant you have!

What you did is of course OK.
