Hello everyone,
Since I receive many requests to write Arabic lettering & translation for coins in private msgs, I've started this topic to receive all requests here.
So, get the requests coming :)
If you are not sure, I can also have a look.

It's really difficult to read Ottoman coins without a translator or a table of Arabic words. There must be a table or a translator for Arabic lettering or an article by someone teaching how to read Arabic words.

I believe Krause has something like this, and such info could be found online easily somehow - at least I hope so

There are already books that contains all the Arabic lettering for a lot of coins, but it just hasn't been transcribed electronically. If you are going to do this, I suggest you download those books as they are free:
Lavoix,
Catalogue des monnaies musulmanes de la Bibliothèque nationale - Egypte et Syrie
Lavoix,
Catalogue des monnaies musulmanes de la Bibliothèque nationale - Khalifes Orientaux
Poole,
Catalogue of Oriential coins in the British museum (all parts)
Valentine,
Modern copper coins of the Muhammadan states of Turkey, Persia, Egypt, Afghanistan, Morocco, Tripoli, Tunis, etc
Lavoix is available
here and
here and BMC Catalogs as well as Valentine are available at archive.org...

Please start a new topic asking for Arabic learning tables and websites, etc. thanks

Your welcome
. BTW, there are other numerous books that are available that can be downloaded, legally, for free wrt this topic. These, as well as others, are what I use to transcribe Arabic on my coin postings (with the help of Google translate). Above all, the following cheap book is a huge plus:

@Amer
Is it possible for you to transliterate other languages written in Arabic script (but not Arabic), such as Farsi, Urdu, and Malay? A Malaysian member has been helping me out with the latter, but I was wondering to what extent I could count on you for inputting lettering of the other two.

Quote: "CassTaylor"Finally remembered about sending you those coins that need Arabic checking. I'll do it later today.
you still did not :D
Right, Right, my apologies!
The relevant coins in Ceylon are Persian ones with Dutch counterstamps I recently added, but I thought you might be able to check the Arabic script lettering is right, anyway:

The original coins are linked for each one; also KM#s 42, 50, and 51 could use your checking too.
