Well, you are correct it is from Thailand - the first page in date order shows four possiblities - all from the reign of Rama V (coins from 1875-1883) in copper - but it is none of these. All have the identical obverse, so it must be other than ... 1/2 Att Y# 17, 1/2 Pai Y# 18, 2 Att Y# 19, 4 Att Y# 20

That's what I tend to think as well - of those four it is the most likely. I said it was not it (I cannot read Thai writing), as the top line of two symbols has the correct one on the left but only a similar one on the right. Could be my eyesight I suppose. Then there is a row of four or five characters, then below a bar are four others which look like numerals - if so could be 1224 or 1228 or 1229 perhaps. Either way they are not then what I suggested for Rama V as 1875-1883 or 1236-1244 dates.
Well, I tried, and I have no catalogues here to look through for Thailand. Maybe SmartOneKg can help.

I love old Thai coins. They're very art-nouveau-ish.
At first I thought it read 1229, but the last digit looks more like an 8 and there's no such year as 1228, so it's 1238 (1876). Your coin is Y#18, 1/2 Pai - Rama V (1/64 Baht). Made of copper.
