Hello,

anyone who could tell me what kind of Indian Rupee coin I have here?
The coin also shows some marks on the edge of the coin, are these official or have they been made later?
The obverse here also shows some chopmarks.

and the marks on the edge

Metal: Silver
Diameter: 19,5mm
Weight: 11,29g

Thank you,

Paul

Although I do not recognize the coin, I can say that the marks on the edges and front are "test marks." Before accepting the coin shopkeepers would punch into the coin to make sure it is solid silver and not silver plated. These marks help indicate authenticity of your coin.

Welcome to Numista

There are a lot of indian (silver) coins with 'in the name of Shah Alam' .....
The weight is a normal weight for a rupee.
As is the diameter
I think the mintplace is at the botton of the left picture
It is a nice coin! I like the chopmarks....

I can not find anything similar on Numista.
Later this day I will browse Zeno

Non est totum quod splendet ut aurum
Rijkdom bestaat niet uit het hebben van veel bezittingen, maar in het hebben van weinig behoeften
Your approach is more professional. I am a naval officer and a novice collector.
This may be a coin from Bengal, late 18th century/ early 19th century, a transition period from Nawabs to British Rule.
It could be Sirajuddaula's coin.
I will continue to try.....
