Egypt Abdulaziz 40 para varieties [solved]

6 posts
My question is related to this coin:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces17709.html
which I have, and the image seem to conform very well to what I see on the page description.

However, in a different catalog I saw I different image:

Is it an error, or the coin has varieties?

Hello,

They are two entirely different coins. The Numista page has KM#248 listed; a type with no flowers above the tughra; while the other page you linked to is in fact actually a KM#249, which does have flowers above the tughra:

KM#249 is unlisted on Numista at the moment.

In addition I don't think the site you listed is a good resource for Islamic-dated coins. They listed the wrong KM#; in addition to the fact that they cited the coin's date as "1861", which indicates a profound ignorance about the regnal year (10); the coin there is in fact from 1870.
Did someone replace the photos in the other link with photos of the Numista KM#248 coin, without changing the the 1861 date as well? Just saying, the link had a different picture when this thread was first created.

Anyway, I've just messaged the Egypt referee to add KM#249 to Numista.
Yes, I reported the bug to them, and they promptly made changes.
Thanks CassTaylor!
