Hello,
As referee of Kandy (the pre-colonial issuer under Sri Lanka), I recently received a message from Sri Lanka's pre-eminent numismatist and SCWC contributor, Dr. Kavan Ratnatunga of coins.lakdiva.org, and he made an interesting point about the name of that issuer on Numista:
"Also, Kandyan Kingdoms is an extremely misleading name. Only that Hook Larin was issued during the Kandy Kingdom. American Author Frank Lapa in his ignorance 5- years ago misused this in his book Kandy Kings. I suggest you use Lanka or Medieval Lanka 6th to 15th century CE, and maybe you can in future have another section called Ancient Lanka (5th century BCE to 5th Century CE))"
I was thinking Lanka - Medieval would be a more representative name for this issuer now, just like Nepal - Medieval.
