I cannot determine the usefulness or accuracy of the following comments for 2 pence coins from 1999 to 2004.

Page for magnetic steel coins in year list has comment "[not this type]" (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces7398.html) for 1999 as well as a 1999 listing without comment.

The page for non-magnetic bronze coins (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces869.html) has "[not this type]" comments in year lines for 1999 to 2004.

As Krause lists the dates for which Numista has "[not this type]" comments, should the comments be deleted? Also the information in Krause for KM# 987 and 987a does not match the general comments above the dates on both these Numista pages. (1999 proofs in both steel and bronze per Krause; only in bronze per Numista.)

Thanks for attention to this problem.

Hello Will, at first glance, it looks as if the '[not this type]' comment on the magnetic listing relates to the 1999 Proof issue which does not exist because they issued the Proof sets in bronze that year. Unfortunately, since there are members showing this non-existent coin in their collection, I am unable to delete the line. The 1999 line with no comment relates to the business strike for circulation, as with almost every other circulation coin listing in the UK catalogue. With regard to the non-magnetic listing, I have absolutely no confidence in the Krause data for these issues and prefer to get my information from Spink or the RM. Once again though, since there are members showing these coins in their collection, I am unable to delete the lines. Just as a matter of interest, do you have any of the issues listed as '[not this type]' or any information other than Krause to suggest that the Numista page is incorrect. While I can't guarantee that the UK listings are error-free, I do try to verify any information that is submitted for publication and if there is evidence from recognised sources that an entry on Numista is incorrect then it is usually corrected straight away. Hope this helps :)
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

Thanks for responding so quickly, radrick007. I made the same assumptions you mentioned about the coins not existing. I think those members showing they have the coins in their collections have confused the magnetic coins for non-magnetic. Instead of "[not this type]" could the comments be changed to "Reportedly does not exist." or similar? That would reflect the situation more clearly in my opinion. I cannot provide any evidence as to the existence of the coins.

I can delete the lines; provided I know where to move the members. :)

Jarek,

For https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces7398.html only members in the 1999 year with comment "Not this type" should move to https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces869.html 1999 proof.

For https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces869.html members in all years with comment "Not this type" should move to same years on https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces7398.html, leaving only 1998 and 1999 proof on the page.

This is only if you don't fear a revolution from members who believe Krause is not in error, in which case I would make the change of comments to "Reportedly does not exist." I leave it to your judgement.

Will
Only the 1998 2 Pence was struck in both bronze & copper-plated steel.

Anything later for the 1 Penny & the 2 Pence has been copper-plated steel since 1999.
