Australian 1944 Penny with 2 mint dots

3 posts
Hi Everybody,

i have a Australian 1944 penny with 2 mint marks, can you help me identify why it has 2 dots. One is after the y which is the Perth mint mark but the other is below the kangaroo tail. I’ve attached a pic for you to see.
any help would be much appreciated.
The dot behind the “Y” in “PENNY” means that it was struck at the Perth Mint. The dot below the tail is mostly like a small cud error or something similar, it is not a mintmark.
