Help identifying a China Empire coin [solved]

5 posts
Hello all

I found in a flea market the coin in the picture. I have checked every single one of the possible coins in numista and I am convinced that the one I have is this one

The letters is the front are faded but you can still read "Copper coin" from TAI-CHING-TI-KUO COPPER COIN.

I'd appreciate other opinions and suggestions.

Many thanks

Hi,

You are on the right track, yours looks to be a 1908 variant.
Can you provide better pictures? These ones are quite blurry to confirm.

These are a bit more clear. I am afraid I cannot do better than this. As mentioned, some letters are totally faded.

Thanks for your help

Pictures are better thanks.

Your coin would either be a Y#10k.10 or a Y#10k.12. Hard to tell on picture, but with coin in hand you can try to distinguish if you see a dot or a dash after the word COIN at right of dragon's head.
dot = Y#10k.10
dash = Y#10k.12

Do you know weight and diameter?

That is most helpful.

Many thanks!!
