The 7th and 8th Infantry Battalions operated as separate, individual militia units. However, because they frequently shared regional bases, brigades, and resources during wartime mobilization, combined officer facilities or combined chits were temporarily utilized. in 1948 the two independent units were officially amalgamated into a single entity called the 8th/7th Battalion.
