Description

This six-piece coin set from Papua New Guinea is a complete set of standard circulation coins issued in 1995 and all coins were struck by the Royal Canadian Mint. The denominations in the set are 1 toea, 2 toea, 5 toea, 10 toea, 20 toea, and 1 kina. The coins feature a native animal on one side, a butterfly, a rockfish, a sea turtle, a spotted cuscus, a Bennets Cassowary, and two alligators. The toea coins bear the coat of arms of Papua New Guinea bird-of-paradise on a traditional spear and a kundu drumon the other side. The 1 kina coin has a hole in the center and bears the Bank of Papua New Guinea logo on the other side. The 1 and 2 toea coins are made of copper-plated zinc, and the remaining coins are made of a copper-nickel alloy.
