The façade of the Church of San Francesco has been featured on the 10 cent euro coin of the Republic of San Marino since 2017.
Founded in 1361 by the Conventual Franciscan Friars, the Church of San Francesco is the oldest place of worship in the Republic, built using local stone by Comacine master builders. Over the centuries, the church underwent several transformations and restorations.
The façade is structured with a three-arched portico and features a brick rose window. The ogival portal is surmounted by a 14th-century stone plaque commemorating the church's foundation, which depicts an imperial eagle and the profile of Emperor Justinian.
