The Zuid Afrikaanse Republic issues a blank 1 penny, somewhere between 1892 and 1901. But how you should go about making sure it is a real one is a point for discussion.

The ZAR blank penny was issued in 1900, so during the second Anglo-Boer War.  There are a number of different ones.

Perhaps a coin dealer like City Coins in Cape Town can assist in verifying the authenticity.  Worth a lot if it is real.

I dont want to be disrespectful in anyway here, but can you compare it with a nickel? If it is appx nickel sized, it is a token from great wolf lodge (Canadian amusement park) ... lol. It looks pretty new to me, a little bit of handling tarnish on the facade

It is the same size as a penny. US Penny.

If it is the same size as a US penny, it is impossible that it could be a ZAR Penny as those were the same size as the old British Penny, so close to a half dollar instead of a penny in size.

ye..... us penny? then it should be a great wolf lodge token. you can get these by putting a dollar in a machine, it will give you back a dollar and i think 5 blanks. they are used to press those souvenir pennies instead of using real pennies.
