Hello there!

After successful translation of Numista into Spanish, it was decided that Numista will be translated into German, Italian and/or Portuguese next!  We are now looking for volunteers that would be willing to help us translate it. If you want to see these languages here, let us please know here or in PM.

Spanish translation was done by 2-3 people, so it is entirely possible to make this happen.

Best regards,

Jarek

I have not super much of free time available but I could at least support with some German Translation.

If you like coins, medals and tokens with ship motives follow my new instagram account with regular updates @numisnautiker
From time to time I sell some coins on Ebay make sure to follow me @apuking on Ebay.

I'm willing to help translating Numista in Portuguese.

Edit: I just noticed that, in some contexts, like issuer names, there would be differences between European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese.

I can help with Italian translation.

Also myself may collaborate to translate to Italian

What does the translation entail? Translating the menus or the content of all the coin pages?

Menu and all databases except individual coin/banknote/exonumia pages.  That includes all rulers, issuers, currencies, etc.

Thanks a lot for offering your help for the translation!

I suggest we get started with German and Italian, which have several volunteers each.

Here is a list of the elements to be translated, from most important to less important (approximately, in my opinion), with an indication of the amount of work: large (L), medium (M) and small (S).

  • Website interface (L)
  • Issuers (L)
  • Calendars (S)
  • Compositions (S)
  • Scripts (S)
  • Shapes (S)
  • Issuer categories (S)
  • Tags (S)
  • Manufacturing techniques (S)
  • Languages (S)
  • FAQ - top 3 articles (M)
  • Currencies (L)
  • Rulers and ruler groups (L)
  • Mints (L)
  • Banks (M)
  • Printers (M)
  • Marks (M)
  • Signatures (M)
  • FAQ - rest of the articles (L)

For the moment, only the website interface and the FAQ have a translation interface. For the rest, we'll work with Excel files.

@apuking, Lucazeo, GiannaReggio, Brünhild, Wertinas, Stefan0205, Goldxi65, escoins, could you please advise what you want to start with, and I'll send you the corresponding access or Excel files.

I proposte to start with something small to see how it works.

I can start with:

  • Calendars (S)
  • Compositions (S)

Open to proposals.

Regards,

Luca.

Ill be open to pretty much anything but excuse will be able to do so only on my return to Europe on August 23

Actually I extended the translation interface, so that it can be used for all the items I listed.
I gave permission to access it to apuking, Lucazeo, GiannaReggio, Brünhild, Wertinas, Stefan0205, Goldxi65 and escoins:

Excel is still an option if it's easier for you. Just let me know so I can prepare the Excel template.

I suggest we have a dedicated forum topic to coordinate the translation work, especially for questions and to indicate who started to translate which part.

Italian: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic135036.html

If another person is needed, I could help translate things into German.

From my view I would welcome additional support.

I suppose we need a reviewer more than a translator

I occasionally check what is publicly viewable and comment in the German translation thread on things that look wrong or sound odd.

But large parts of the site are not translated so a lector makes more sense when the progress is a bit more complete.

Other then (semi)public google docs I can't think of  much more to speed up the translation process without introducing to many cooks into the kitchen.

I would also agree with that. So if someone is needed somewhere, I can fill in.

May I come in? I want to translate also in Tagalog, but I only do it for a spare time due to academic activities, video editing activities, and others. But here are some examples for translating it in Tagalog.

My exonumia – aking mga eksonumya

My swaps – Aking mga swap/pagpapalitan

Messages – Mga mensahe

Profile (same word in Tagalog)

Settings  – mga pagsasaayos / mga setting

Sign out – Mag-sign out

Coins – mga barya

Banknotes – mga salaping papel

Exonumia – mga eksonumya

Forum – forum

More – marami pa

Swaps – mga swap / pagpapalitan

FAQ – mga tanong palaging nasasagot (or just FAQ)

Ang numismatika ay libangan ng pag-aaral ng barya at perang papel.
