I'm pleased to see Microsoft adding features to the Paint program.

Dark mode / centred canvas / background removal... all rolling out slowly.

Using this piece of exonumia for an example:

N#376075

The results are reasonable for a free built-in program.

If you're running Win 11 and want to try the new version now you can update from this file.

What is a Msixbundle file?

Essentially it's a ZIP file, Microsoft uses them for self-installing application packages.

You can even add a .zip extension if you want to extract/look inside the package.

If you double click the Msixbundle file it will update the version of Paint you already have installed, if you change your mind, just uninstall paint, and reinstall the current version from the Microsoft Store.

MSIXBundle: An MSIXBundle is a container format that allows bundling multiple MSIX or APPX packages together along with dependencies and resources. It provides a seamless installation experience for complex applications by handling dependencies and orchestrating the installation of multiple packages simultaneously.

Thanks.  I did double click but got the “Open file with?” prompt. But I was doing it in Windows Sandbox just in case it went sideways and tried to eat the computer.  Paint isn't in Sandbox so that's probably why it didn't do anything.

It worked.  Thanks.

Nice.

I'm impressed so far, doing a great job for a one-click remover.

Just found out on my Win 10 computer that this background removal tool is now integrated into the Windows Photos app. It still doesn't show up in Paint on Win 10 but probably not too far behind.

My note is Win 11, and there's a remove background button in Paint.

It's the button named “Remover” near the select button at top left. (PC's language is PT-BR)

Yes, has been in Win 11 for some time. This was in response to those asking about Win 10.

Too bad, we still don't get more details by increasing the dimensions
