1 Krona - Carl XVI Gustaf 2 types difference [résolu]

Can anyone please help me understand what is the difference between these 2 coin types?

I might be missing something, but the only difference that I see is the Riksbank governor's initial on the reverse side. If this is the case, why is it not just a different variety, rather than a whole different type?

 When a letter is added after a KM number it usually means a change of metal. 

Your first link is a cladded coin over a core; 

the second link is just copper-nickel, no cladding. 

 In appearance just the same designs. 

Similar happened in the UK with say 1 Pence coins, 

where one was solid metal and the newer ones had the same metal over a steel core. 

Thank you, Zac! That makes sense, and I indeed has seen a similar cases before. I was just confused as both of them seemed to be actual Copper-Nickel, but you are right that one is cladded, the second one is not.
