Looking forward to seeing all those new exonumia finds and maybe a few Xmas presents later in the month.  Good hunting  🥷

Here is my latest bit of exonomia -

A silver plaque from an expo in Uruguay in 1942.

A product of the Tammaro firm, medalists, but which also struck some coins, and still exists.

Not yet in Numista catalog.

Jamais l'or n'a perdu la plus petite occasion de se montrer stupide. -Balzac

Just found this in a bag of coins from a charity shop here in Ashford, Kent.

Evidently, it doesn't work very well.  Otherwise, it might not have been given away so easily.  😉

 Translation is:

  • Deliberando saepe perit occasio - The opportunity often slips away while we deliberate on it (Publilius Syrus).
  • In ipsa dubitatione facings inest, etiamsi ad id non pervenerint - Guilt is present in the very hesitation, even though the deed be not committed (Cicero).

Box of 82 different German spiel marke (play money), most appear not yet listed at Numista, so there is much work to do.

I don't have the time to identify and catalog them right now, maybe in a few weeks or months I will start creating the pages.

30 Dec 2024: 100% of the first 10 examples did not exist in Numista, so I created the pages. There were some similar/common obverses, but all with different reverses, usually a different wreath design.

Awesome lot

Yes, very impressive.  Love the really small coin in the middle.  Have you identified any of them yet?

Got to meet Lorne Barnes the author of two books today. Picked up a copy of them both. Also stopped by a local Antique store and picked up few items. Hope to have the request to add all of these in tonight. The last 3 items pictured are the same on both sides.

Very nice - they look quite thin (???), so good to find them in such good condition.  Any indication of age, what they were for, or where they originated from?

BTW - Were these still December finds?  I try to update this page each month (with a bit of help from other exonumia enthusiast).  Either way, it's great to have someone else who's interested in all the strange stuff we find in amongst our coins.

No idea of age I'm afraid, if at a guess, would say late 19th early 20th century. Yes they are very thin about 1mm. The camel has a pyramid in the distance bottom left and the lion on the other side has three stars at the top and bottom, no words or dates. As to metal content, no rusting so could be silver or zinc, probably the latter? I find them very fascinating as opposite to coins.

Both are approx. 25mm wide x 1mm in thickness/depth.

Four new Conder tokens for me

Wow! Nice set that and thanks for sharing👌

Yes, very nice - but does everyone not realise this topic is 2 months old?

There is already a February topic: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic156159.html
