When sales and examples are added, and the variety is defined, we can see the picture on the variety lines ("").
My suggestion is to enable to select variety for the main pictures of the page (those shown on top), so we can see them on the variety lines; nota big deal, but I think it will make easier to identify variants.

Just 10 options: you understand binary, or you don't.

Agree as long as things like this get put in the correct year line.
Perhaps the idea is that the main image "is available" so that it can be included as an example somewhere (as is the case with images from previous auctions, at the end of the page). What you observed is a good point to ratify this suggestion!
Best, Vladimir.

The examples I used may be “extreme” but people rely on the images linked on a year line to be accurate, especially on ancient coins. The Robot has proven itself not to be capable of matching information to the correct year line. I only urge caution before implementing this suggestion.

Yes, I agree with you.
But we already have the "past sales" feature, which is, by default, "undetermined", when there is more than one variant.
The main photo may appear in the same way, at the end of the page, as "undetermined", until a user or referee places it in the correct place. =)

I totally agree your point, as referee, many times I see people asking to change pictures, for one better, but rarely they update the lettering and translation, as it should be. Also I have seen many sales or examples wrongly assigned or marked as “undefined”. Part of reaponsability is from the referee, that has to check carefully before accepting, or fixing mistakes after.

Other reason for do this… When there are two pages duplicate and one of them is deleted its main images are lost, we can not "move" these images (creating an example) to the page that will be keep. We can download the images of the page to be deleted and register the example in the other page ourselves, or course, but we can not indicate the true owner of the images.
