Hello,
I like the idea, but I don't see a very big value for Numista to offer such a directory. It's difficult for me to prioritize this development at the moment.
People don't need to search every coin club in the world. The need is rather to find the closest club(s) around where you live. That's something you'd need to search only once when you move in a new area, but it's not something you would check every week or month. I'm sure there are already some way to know which clubs exist in your area: even if it might be a bit more complex than looking up on Numista, it's something you need to do only once.
Another potential value of such feature would be to have the life of the club organized from Numista: club events would be listed in the outings section; the page of the club could show the list of users in that club (and reciprocally on user profile), etc. I believe Facebook is already good at that.
I might of been a bit unclear, but the main problem is that a significant amount of coin clubs around the world barely, if at all, exist online. It's impossible for new collectors to find the closest club if they are unaware of their existence and can't Google or search their way to it.
I think the only way to attract younger collectors to coin clubs, before they all end up closing down, is to create an easy way to find them. Having a simple outing page on Numista is much easier than making a website, which the older members in these clubs does not know how to do either. Many younger collectors use Numista, so Numista would be the ideal location for such a list.
Such a feature would use the already pre-existing framework of outings and should not be too difficult to add. It would be community driven and depend on users adding the clubs themselves. The only extra work, as far I see it, is approving an extra flow of outing requests.
I think this could be solved by adding additional outings administrators, perhaps one for each country depending on how many volunteer.
I understand if this isn't a priority, but in many countries the good old fashioned coin clubs are facing an existential crisis, and I really believe this is a solution.
