I'm trying to understand something.. My father was a professional collector and he priced this bill at $35. Looking at Numista I saw that it only worth $3. What am I missing? He made a mistake? thanks

It is P-248b ("Series E" May 18 1982) with 5,000,000 print run so I can imagine this note being at least 10X what Numista has on its very inaccurate pricing tables.  Only 2% of Numista users reported this note so it is much tougher than the 3 later varieties.

Also consider that Numista moderators have lumped together P-248a & b, P-254, P-258 & P-261a & b (4 different notes) as one entity. This causes a lot of confusion amongst collectors who may have entered incorrect info on P-248b (likely they had a later/cheaper version of this note & fed that incorrect info into the Numista's algorithm).

I usually ignore the pricing tables since Numista has members who may enter that they have paid Face Value (or less) for the note too.  A more helpful feature is to check out what the same note may list for on eBay (but these prices may be inflated too).

BTW: I think you would draw more attention to your “Question” if you identified the note you need info on in your thread title (or used a title such as, “Value of Costa Rica 100 Colones?”).
