Hey, i just got the Transnistrian plastic coins for the first time:

N#64480
N#64482
N#64483
N#64484

I think they are pretty cool actually and while looking closer i noticed that they aren't flat, but they have a texture!

My personal guess is that it's for limiting wear and scratches on them. I've been thinking of maybe adding a picture like this to the Numista page, cause i think it is an interesting info about the coin. Tell me if you think that's a good idea :)
They are also a lot harder than i expected. I have a bunch of regular plastic tokens here, but these are quite different. Overall, i think even though a lot of people are making fun of these, i think they are actually pretty well made over all (Considering the circumstances).

I also do like their design, i know they look kind of goofy, but i think that works in their favor. And the different colors and shapes work quite well too. I think they've done very well using the medium they had to their advantage.

To me, these are also banknotes as well, as they are banknote designs depicted on them.

I suspect the texture is to prevent them from sticking. Its easy for smooth plastic plates to stick, especially with a little moisture.

Banknotes? That's a strange opinion to have. They are both coins sized / shaped and made from a solid material. I guess one can argue if one of these criteria doesn't match, like how some Banknotes are really tiny / round or how some Banknotes are made from wood. But if both apply then most would probably argue they are coins.
Also just based on the design? Just because a coins is designed a certain way doesn't make it something else entirely.

That sounds very plausible actually!
