Is it possible to stop the automated date range switching that occasionally happens on Arabic coins?

I think I know what you're asking about but there's nothing wrong with the dates in your example. Or am I not understanding?

Dates on the lower screenshot are the wrong way round, unless it's a different variation.  When I try to change it, it automatically reverts to this way round.

Just lookedat it again.  Maybe, the second date in arabic (١٩٢٤) needs to be in brackets, same as the line heading 1342 (1924)

You are talking about the year line comment. Would have been easier if you said so.
You will run into these problems when you mix left to right and right to left writing. This has not much to do with Numista.

The first should have invisible left to right markers and the second uses an em dash which works better then a hyphen:
١٣٤٢ - ١٩٢٤
١٣٤٢ – ١٩٢٤

Try it.  Easier said than done.

Edit the page and put your cursor where you want the bracket:

Then type the bracket:

I'm sure it can be done but it's not that simple.
