I'll go first...

When I first saw this effigy, I didn't know if I should laugh or cry.

Spain 1 Real - Isabel II 1852-1855

I think the last effigy of Elizabeth II is the most unattractive one, no insult to Britons and other members of the Commonwealth.
The fourth portrait of Queen Margarethe II of Denmark immediately comes to my mind. Always feel sorry for her seeing her like this.

If I were the queen of Denmark, I'd call upon my royal power to have the designer quartered - Her Majesty the Queen is very much not amused ;(

Well, not unattractive, just poorly made. Though it is from a tiny coin, no bigger than a thumbnail ...

These two below commemorated the wedding of Catherine Middleton and Prince William ...

Are we supposed to be finding 87-year-old women attractive?

I've always found the liberty on the Morgan Dollar to be rather unattractive, the peace dollar looks way hotter.

Totally agree!! When I started out I used to think that's Mr. Morgan rather than Lady Liberty on the obverse  of the Morgan Dollar :`

I work in the nursing home and yes, some older ladies are attractive, although not in the sexual context. It's rather their personality/soul that makes them physically attractive despite their advanced age. I don't see this in Elizabeth II.

It's pretty hard to convey peronality/soul in a coin design.  But Lizzie was a beautiful woman when she was young.

I know this is meant for female effigies, but I must mention that King George the 3rd looks disgusting

Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins

This topic made me laugh out loud thanks guys! I have to agree that the Queen of Denmark looks pretty unfortunate. There should've been a way to make the previous portrait continue in lieu of finding an attractive current portrait. On the attractive side, "la semeuse" is most certainly a hottie  ;)
I win. 'nuff said.

you all have such good bad coins, but what a poor subject, I think we should focus on beautiful women, and melt all these coins down. Really, I don't like melting coins but these coins are UGLY

It is, what it is, or is it.
I know this is an old post...but I cant tell if ZacUK was teasing or not. Only the first of the two coins you claimed were of Catherine and William are in fact of them. The second is of Fergie and Andrew. And the fact it seems to be fake didnt make Fergie look any better.

If I recall correctly, she was also the only person to appear on a US coin when they were still alive.

Actually President Coolidge appeared on the 1926 Sesquicentennial half while very much alive. Senator Robinson was on the Arkansas Centennial half of 1936 while living. Nancy Reagan is alive and will appear on a coin this year. Senator Carter Glass may have been living when he was on the Lynchburg, Virginia half...

First woman, then.

Queen Elizabeth I

She is branded as the most unattractive monarch in UK history, and my god was she ugly.

Perhaps that's why she was termed the "Virgin Queen". Nothing quite like making a necessity into a virtue.

Actually it's pretty lucky for the citizens of that most beautiful of states, West Virginia. Imagine living in West Slutsville?

That's particularly sad. I miss his entertaining writings and waspish sense of humor. I'm still in touch with him intermittently via email and we still trade a few coins here and there.
