Need help identifying this countermarked coin. diameter is 40mm??? B.

 I think the value was halved, so if stamped now 40 then it was 80 originally. Also the 39.6mm size nearly matches yours.

Sorry but them can't be the same. The one pictured it's just 35mm and should be a countermarked 80 Reis which had the same size as the 40 Reis.
Alas the coin shown it to worn to determinate, but is has a wonderful patina!

It must to be the KM#366.1

the coin`s size I would say is just under 40mm,maybe close to 40 reis KM# 446.
But why countermark 40 over 40?
besides that it is 1829R and is Petrus I and not II?

True, D.Pedro IV of Portugal 1826-1828 (Pedro I emperor of Brazil) did abdicate of his title in favour of his son Pedro II.
Concerning the coin, as I said before it's to worn to see all details.
I'm very positive that it's a countermarked 80 Reis. Otherwise  it doesn't make no sense at all.

PS. You should try to get more information by specialized Brazilian/Portuguese collectors beyond Numista.

Think it`s KM 445 (contermarked on KM 376).
But, i`m not an expert on this situation.
This one is not listed on Numista.
Very nice coin with a good patina.
debased coinage was an 80reis now a 40 I have one. I also have 40r now 20. Just need 20- 10
