Hi!

I announce that there are some things new in our wallets, here, in Canada!

New 2$ coins (approximatly €1,40/£1,20)... FAKE :o !!

I've readed the news last week, without real interest, but now, I've a good reason to intest to it, I received one yesterday... :` !

I'm going to post comparative photos with a real coin of the same year (2005, for interested people) today or thomorrow 8) !

Hey Euro3000,

This is very interesting. We don't have many information about counterfeits... could you perhaps make an article in the Numisdoc?

I'll ask Xavier and see his view. An article about counterfeits by country would be most helpful.

Hi!

Like I said before, here are the picturess...

It's essential to mention that in all my photos, the real coin is at the left... and the fake one, well, at the right :D !

Obverse:

The fake have a less precise design!

Reverse:

This side of the fake one is here more realistic, in fact, if I only see this side, I can bealive it!

Edge:

The fake have a thinner edge, with ''micro-riflings'', and not groups of ''real'' riflings...

In conclusion, The fake is annormaly billiant, which even real BU 2$ coins don't have. Also, it seems to be liter (but, I cannot verify it). One think is sure, the diameter is the same...

How surprising!

The one on the fake does not look fake at all. However, most 2 dollar coins passed on in circulation are crummy like the one on the right.

You should definetly write an article about this in Numisdoc. It would be greatly appreciated.

I have one of these fakes as well.  I wasn't 100% positive that it was fake, but after reading this post, I am.
