Hi all, would it be possible to list notgeld on its on page outside of tokens? While I understand that they are closer to a token than coinage, they were ( If my history is correct) issued for a governing body (citys). I find them interesting and would like to be able to keep track of the ones that i have, as well as see ones that others have found.
Yeah, we have French cities as a separate in the database. Maybe Kriegsgeld/Notgeld too? Probably the admin just have not got around to it yet.
I don't know for sure that there is a great following. But I, myself find the history as well as the varity of city issue coins and currency to be very interesting. And I would assume I am not alone.
German Notgeld coinage is listed under "Germany - Weimar Republic". It has its own section yet.
However - lots of "coinage" from that time was not official Notgeld / emergency coinage but rather
factory or transportation tokens. those are listed under "* TOKENS *". see especially the subdivision
Germany and USA there.

Ok. Thank you. That is helpful. Is there any resources that can help one tell the differance between an offical city issue and transportion tokens or other similar coins?
You could tell by checking the lettering and translating.
if something like "notgeld" or "kriegsgeld" appears on the coin it is most obviously official
emergency coinage (see:https://en.numista.com/numisdoc/post-world-war-i-german-notgeld-36.html

If something like "Strassenbahn" or company names appear they're privately issued money or
transportation tokens.
Thank you, again. I have had trouble finding good information on this topic.
