I recently acquired one of these coins and was about to add it to my collection when I noticed that, according to Krause, this is a 10 cent coin, not a 1 cent. My World Coins catalog has the following data:

Y# 347 10 CENTS
Copper
Date Mintage VG F VF XF Unc
25(1936) 311,780,000 0.15 0.40 0.75 1.75 2.50
26(1937) 307,198,000 0.15 0.45 1.00 1.50 3.00
27(1938) 12,000,000 1.00 3.00 5.00 8.00 16.00
28(1939) 75,000,000 0.65 2.00 4.00 7.00 15.00

Not much on diameter and weight details but the image in Krause is the same as my coin and the image for the above entry in the Numista catalog. Can someone (maybe Ginger?) check the Numista entry and advise.

Many thanks, Rick  :°

The picture is that of a 1 cent coin.

I think you mean 10 cash? I also checked the catalogue and it is listed as 1 cent.

Hello, SmartOneKg. I'm sorry, but I'm still a bit confused. The image that I posted above from the entry in Numista identified as 1 Cent (1 Fen) is actually listed in my 2009 Standard Catalog of World Coins as 10 Cents (1 Chiao) and that is the data I copied onto my post.

The image identified in Krause as the 1 Cent has a similar obverse but the character to the left of the reverse is different. I will try to copy the images across.

It's beginning to look like Krause might have got it wrong (what, again? surely not!)
This is what Don's World Coin Gallery has listed for Republic of China Y#347

And this is what Numismaster has listed for the same coin number

And this is my recently acquired coin

I think we can agree that they are all the same type of coin (although Don seems to have got his obverse upside down!) and we must conclude that it is indeed a 1 Cent. Kenneth, can you confirm that my coin is dated 26 (1937)?
Many thanks, Rick

That's true,

World Coin Gallery did get their photo upside down. Yours is dated 26 中國二十六年, so that is 1937.

It's really fun using the Japanese keyboard. Sorry if I get carried away.
