Does anyone know about 1600's  Spanish pirate coins? I just got 8 of them and don't know where to get any info on them.
Authentic or replica? Gold, silver or copper?

Pirate coins????

A pirate is someone who robs and plunders on the high seas. They are not renowned for minting coins! Do you actually mean 17th century Spanish coins?

Matt
I have seen coins sold as pirate coins. They are replicas of eighteenth-century Spanish coins and fantasy coins. There are also some genuine Spanish coins recovered from shipwrecks.

The only coins that I remember from the theft of American silver are British. They are those coins that have the word "Vigo".

For example https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces13057.html

They are minted with silver captured at the Battle of Vigo.

They are coins of 2 or 4 maravedis, some of them are restruck with number 8 or VIII because they were used later as 8 maravedis.

Several coins have the rampant lion on one side and the castle on the other, symbols of the kingdoms of Leon and Castile. This is the most common design of maravedis between the XV and XVIIth centuries.

The best conserved, the 4th coin, is probably 2 maravedis of Charles II about 1680 KM#190.

The reference book about these coins is Numismática Española by Calicó.
