Its already March by France's standard and I won't get this coin delivered until next week, so I'll play as well. This is a nice upgrade to my existing one that is below...
Byzantine Empire: Leo V the Armenian (813-820) Æ Follis, Constantinople (Sear 1630; DOC 7)
Obv: LЄOҺ S C-OҺSC; Crowned facing busts of Leo and Constantine, each wearing chlamys
Rev: Large M; cross above, X/X/X to left, N/N/N to right, A below
Well, it's been March here for 28 minutes now, although I did get these relatively cheap coins in the last week of February but hadn't posted them, cause they're not nearly as awesome as that 1838-O half dime.
1859 Indian cent (type 1, no shield reverse), 1853 3-cent (type 1, 75% silver)
1883 nickel (type 1, no "cents"), 1913-D buffalo (type 1, raised mound)
1894 Barber Quarter (I had a type 1 (early 1892) and type 3 (later half 1900 and newer), but wanted a type 2)
The 1859 indian cent is worse condition than it looked from the pictures, but that's what you get for $5. I might try and find a nicer one sometime in the future, but for now I'm happy with it.
And a re-post from Feb's thread 2 days ago, Just cause it's such a rare coin (200 survivors?) that I'm so happy to own I feel like re-posting! And mine has a minor clipped platchet mint error I think? That not a dent in the rim, since there's no vertically displaced metal, so either it's carefully filed or it's a clipped platchet. And I checked with another half dime the indent exactly fits the edge of another coin.
Because, who doesn't like seeing a lady who forgot to wear her chain mail shirt?
It's my second standing liberty quarter, I have the type 1 and 3 now, but still need an example of the type 2 1917-24 where she put on a shirt, but still has the raised date.

They only ship in the UK. I have to have someone there buy it then ship it to me.
Got a lot of of random country coins for cheap, many of which countries I didn't have, for about $15. Nothing as valuable as the USA 1800's silvers I've been getting recently, but I need to work on repairing my Jeep so less money into coins. Kinda fun to see different stuff.
Uganda, Botswana, Cyprus, Tanzania, Argentina, Singapore,
Zambia, Mozambique, Chile, Jordan, Taiwan, Ghana,
India, Portugal, Zimbabwe, India, India, India,
Turkey, Poland, Poland, Hong Kong, South Africa, Algeria, East Caribbean States, Japan,
Philippines, South Korea, Israel, Israel, Spain, Greece,
South Korea, Bahrain, Pakistan, Brazil, Columbia, and Philippines.

I bought this and a couple other things at my local coin club meet. I normally don’t collect RCM collector coins, but I like this one which depicts my city’s skyline in celebration of its 150th anniversary (it was 184 years just a couple days ago).

'Unusual 1892 Silver Victorian HalfCrown coin with countersunk Geo V Silver 3d'
I got it as a few months ago I got similar, with a copper coin inlaid with a silver coin ...

Wow that is weird!
The way it's been altered reminds me of the George III portraits counterstamped on Spanish 8 reales coins, but on a British coin and with George V instead.

Yes, allow I don't know why
Possibly somebody having fun or testing a die?
Cool piece to have though

Great example, most that you see nowadays are so terribly worn they might as well be a blank planchet
Thanks! I did pay quite a bit for decent condition. I wanted one good enough to make out the shield on the shield (all types have that, but it's one of the first things to wear off), and all the extra rivets on the shield (30 instead of 17 on the type 2 and 3)
I do have one actual blank planchet, it's a 1997 penny I found at Walmart in 1997, a cashier broke open a roll of new pennies to make change, there were 49 1997 pennies, and this 1 blank.
And since I left Korea yesterday, I got some change in a London café (not the best condition, but they're new to me, so they'll do for now). The coins were nice though.
Thank you Dato. Those little 1 Millieme coins are harder to find than the similar 5 and 10 Milliemes (that's why this coin was the only non-silver coin in this list). And this one indeed is very nice. My pictures are scans and in general scans are not as beautiful as the real thing and this coin is no exception on that rule.

I think we should clone our collections so we could combine them and both have them. We seem to have rather similar tastes
I'm focusing mainly on the 18th century Bavaria cityscape Thalers at the moment, but Italy has some beautiful coins and a rich history too. An avenue to explore in the future.
A really nice coin where the graphical image is represented on the coin itself. Check out the crosses in his collar! My top Christmas themed coin! It has overtaken my King Wenceslas coin from Bohemia...

It certainly does! To be honest I would have bought this coin had I come across it before I ever saw it on MPCC, but no doubt there are dozens of users whose collections and knowhow have been expanded by MPCC, so congrats on your work!
I found some Latvian euros in the wardrobe yesterday. Probably forgotten by of those who lived in my apartment during the past year. I didn't have any before, so that's nice.

Well done - not seen any at all yet.
Same with me,
It took me a fortnight to get one of the new £1's!

But have you seen the variation of the 2016 £1 coin?
I have seen three where the edge above the 't' in ELIZABETH is smooth, whereas it's normally milled.
I have checked hundreds, but found only three
Yes - I have six, all 2016. Not seen any 2017 like that yet.
Another 2016 variety is where 2016 is on obverse, but the reverse has
the tiny numbers 2017 around the edge.
Yes, I read about it somewhere a few weeks ago, and have been
checking now both for the smooth edge and/or the wrong date.
I made this just now ...
Needless to say it is very hard to check the small reverse dates without magnification.
No. Very rare - only a few seen.
One other of the new £1 is the 2014 single metal test coin. I have the
rare 2015 bi-metal test coin, but not the 2014 one.
Citation: "Choucas"Monninen, can you tell me more about the banknote you just posted ?
It took time to notice this post. There are so many additions.
It is a 75 kopek banknote issued for Finland. Kind of an attempt to stop the using of Swedish coins, as when they changed rulers, a lot of Swedish coins got stuck here.
The "printage" whatever it is called, would be shown on the setelit.com web page, but for now it does not work. It is about 100 thousand. It sounds usual but the banknote is actually very rare. Usually it is only sold at auctions, probably a few times a year. I have an guess that this is the only one on sale in a shop, in Finland right now.
Because it was printed in 1825, it was used a lot. I have never seen a good condition one. The bank of finland probably has some of them. Hopefully no-one buys this before I do.
The banknote was a part of a series with 20, 50 kopek and 1, 2 (and 4, 10) rubles banknotes. It the about the size of a 5 euro banknote, probably a bit smaller but taller.
As the price is 390€, it is still in a quite good condition. I have seen a half of that banknote sold for 100€. The ruble banknotes are rare because of in 1860, we started to use the markka and the ruble banknotes were forgotten. Some of the years are lost to time, and some only have 1-5 notes left...
I recently went to my local coin dealer and that's where I started my US Presidential Collection in the coin book. I also got a Cook Islands first issue 1 dollar (1972) and he gave to me for free a New Zealand National Parks Centennial Coin in it's original case.
A semi-upgrade to my existing one. This one has full legends as opposed to my previous one. Furthermore, it clearly indicates two different sub-types for this particular coin where the obverse legend are different. Lianta only illustrates Legend Type 1 and as such the two examples in the Ashmolean Museum are variations of that legend...
