On the coin flips they are marked as Afghanistan coins overstamped on Portuguese coins and dating from the 16-17th century.

Sorry not sure on the orientation of obverse of coin here

I think I can see "PLVS" as in "PLVS VLTRA" (Plus Ultra, Spanish motto) on the left image of the second coin, like the ones seen on early Spanish colonial coinage:

So perhaps they are overstruck Spanish issues?
On the right image for the second coin I think I can see the date "1659" under "(something) X", as well as 165? above the X on the right hand image for the first coin.

I do not think it is PLUS, but rather the monogram of PHIL(L)IPUS and on the other side REX with the date (1599/1699 ?)

Perhaps you find some similar here:

Yeah, that makes sense too.

We've established that host coin is likely Spanish in origin, but any ideas about stamp?
Thanks for finding thos info, maybe the first is on a portuguese and the second on a spanish?

Im on a business trip so will only be able to check on wednesday.

If I can‘t find anymore info I will ask on Zeno if someone there knows more.

Coin 2: It seems that it started his life as a 8 maravedis, and later was overstruck as 12 maravedis.
I think that solves the problem of this coin

The first coin seems to show it as well, just my picture rotation was not correct.
Date seems also to be for the first 165?
