Hello fellow collectors,
In the Numista listing for 4 Reales of Isabel 2nd there is a comment which states that 1836 coins from the Barcelona Mint are incorrectly identified in the Krause catalogue as KM514 because they were only minted in 1837 and 1838. However, I have an 1836 4 Reales, mintmark B, mint officials initials PS, listed in Krause as KM514, which would seem to contradict that statement. At the same time, the obverse legend on my coin doesn't match the Krause listing. The obverse legend is as follows; ISABEL 2A. POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS. The Krause listing adds " Y CONSTITUCION " to the legend found on my coin. And, as luck would have it, the coin is not pictured in the catalogue. Label me confused. I welcome any and all comments on the subject. Thank you.
Hello Ducky and welcome to the forum,

Krause has some errors with the coins with the first portrait in 4 reales of Isabella II. There are three types in the ending of legend of the obverse. The last word can be DIOS, CONSTITUCION or CONST. Krause assigns them KM#510, KM#514 and KM#519 respectively.

Barcelona used the legend DIOS in 1836, CONSTITUCION in 1837 and 1838, and CONST in 1839 and thereafter. But in Krause 1836 is in KM#514 and 1838 in KM#519, wrong.

Your coin is from Barcelona 1836 ending DIOS, then is the first type, wrongly in Krause as KM#514. And in Numista is

I have added comments to the three records in Numista to warn about these errors.
