1952 half penny

Hi I have this 1952 half penny that seems to have a mistake when made. It was in my mums coin collection she recently gave to me. I’ve attached photos. It weighs 5.62g. I was wondering if anyone would know the value. TIA

There seems to be a layer of substance on top of the surface, covering both lower and higher parts of the design.

It looks more like remains of glue (or lacquer) than a minting error to me.

Agreed, lacquer or glue. Try placing the coin in a small tightly covered glass container of acetone in a well ventilated area (outside). It should come right off after 1-2 hours. Don't rub!

Hopefully that green will come off too and it's not verdigris...
